St. Sox Hospital
This hospital was initially founded in 1868 by five laywomen who were members of the third order of St. Francis. The purpose of the hospital was to care for women from the south end of the city in which it is located in. The building pictured here was constructed when the hospital moved locations in 1914. The buildings were built in Spanish Mission architecture and were designed by Edward T.P. Graham. The complex contained many buildings and a school on the property. The hospital was deemed as one of the best schools for nursing in the area. The hospital is still in operation today and is considered to be a large hospital in the region. The original Spanish Mission style buildings have been vacated in favor for more modern and "state-of-the-art" buildings.
