Around mid-2016 and early 2017, when terms like "bando" began trending on Instagram and Snapchat, places that we had frequented for nearly a decade suddenly rose in popularity. This fad brought a serious amount of unwanted attention as a wave of social media influence caused an uptick in vandalism and other attention seeking behavior. A hobby that had otherwise remained fairly discrete was now on blast in mainstream media. Many dispute this has anything to do with what has happened to places, as we ourselves even once didn't believe it to be true... but we will let you be the judge.
