MacDade Orphanage
This beautiful estate was built in 1906 and designed by famous architect Horace Trumbauer. It was to be a private estate for a wealthy family. The mansion had a total of 55 rooms and sat on 30 acres of land. The property was then sold to the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer in the 1930's. The property was converted into an orphanage and then converted again into a nursing home. The property was abandoned in 2005 and has sat neglected ever since. Recently, the town has come together in an effort to find an adaptive reuse for the estate.
