Quaker Funeral Home
Founded in the 1970's, the Quaker Funeral Home served residents of the neighborhood throughout three generations of family members that owned it. The parlour primarily served Black/African American members of the local community, and overall was well regarded for their services. Unfortunately, after the elder owner of the business passed away, several years of paperwork mishaps caught up to the establishment. The funeral home was later closed in 2017, and demolished not long after. However, before being completely razed, a police investigation yielded findings of cremated human remains (cremains) that were left in the building amongst the disorganized chaos. It has never been confirmed if the remains of those dearly departed were ever reunited with their family members or interred at a more appropriate final resting place.
