Sleighton Farm School
This 300-acre campus of buildings was established in 1911. It was the inception of a split between boys and girls at the House of Refuge in Philadelphia. The girls were moved to this campus in rural Glen Mills, PA. Many buildings were constructed on campus through the years and the property eventually consisted of over 20 buildings. What started as a school for girls became a co-ed institution in 1975. The population of male students then quickly outgrew the female students. The school fell into financial difficulties and eventually was forced to close in 2001. The entire campus now sits abandoned and so heavily vandalized, one can barely see the original walls of the building through the spray paint.
