Juvenile Forensic Psych
Opened in 1965, this Juvenile Forensic Psychiatric Center provided for the community in a variety of ways. It hosted both inpatient and outpatient services for children and adolescents, as well as serving as a teaching hospital for medical professionals and a research facility attached to the main buildings. Ultimately, the hospital was closed down due to concerns over the cost of upkeep. Although the buildings were not very old at all, nor were they very extravagant in nature by any means, the state opted to shut them down in favor of moving all residents and services to other nearby, newer locations.
The campus has now been sold off as part of a massive redevelopment plan, and if you look closely in some of our photos, you can see the demolition and re-construction being just mere feet away from where we were.
